Grayers: before denim, before chinos there were grayers......!

Its not very often you find a new intelligent mens wear brand with beautiful fabrics and the right
fits covering all product types and at the same time commercially priced.
All-american Grayers is all that and much more. Today exclusively sold by Mr.Porter in Europe.

It’s run by two former Ralph Lauren executives within production and design. --> Peter Georgiou and Kenny Thomas, Grayers creative directors, were colleagues during their Ralph Lauren days: Peter on the product development and sourcing side and Kenny on the design side. Kenny came to Grayers with a notable 13 years at Ralph Lauren as a vice president of concept design and was also the first designer on the RRL-collection.

Genius Copenhagen has been appointed as the Scandinavian distributor for Grayers - contact Martin Møller for more details.

Grayers:
Before jeans and chinos, a man of style would wear gray flannel trousers, or better known as Grayers, which gave birth to casual menswear. Grayers, the collection, is the perfect mix of heritage menswear pieces, with a modern day take. Not to mention that the collection will carry on from season to season. The lightweight oxfords are perfect for layering in the winter and a simple but chic summer look.

If you didn't grow up during the 1950s in England, we forgive you. Post-World-War II Brits, however, we fully expect you to be familiar with the era's ubiquitous gray flannel trousers. Colloquially called grayers, they represented a new age in menswear, when style-inclined youth threw off the stiff formalities of conventional dressing — think: three-piece suits — for these more relaxed, pair-with-everything pants. Today, the birth of the "British blue jean" serves as fashion catnip for founder Peter Georgiou, who named his new menswear line, Grayers, after the throwback staple.

"The pieces are the perfect mix of Anglo-awesomeness, New England prep-school cool, and insta-classics, all with a little bit of quirk thrown in. Look for slim-but-not-too-skinny chinos, and artfully worn-in jeans, t-shirts, knitwear and one pretty slick tartan blazer. With affordable price points and crazy-good quality, we think these duds could start a fashion revolution all of their own."

Established in 2009, Natural Selection Denim strives for originality and authenticity with no compromise. They use Japanese and Italian selvedge denim to produce jeans with rich-detailing that resonate with the denim obsessive.
Through a process of evolution, Natural Selection have become masters of the complex techniques used in the design and manufacture of premium-quality denim.

The jeans below are cut straight in the leg from 13oz Japanese selvedge denim, produced in a family run, artisanal denim mill. The denim has been chain-rope-dyed a deep indigo and then subjected to a heavy-rinse, which removes some of the starch from the fabric helping the denim enthusiast to wear-in the denim more rapidly.

This heavy chino bears the fruits of Natural Selection’s philosophy on the place that evolution takes in quality denim design and manufacture. Packed with thoughtful and considered details, it is a testament to the time and effort invested by the brand.

Selectism skriver:
The British denim brand focuses on the basics, well made high quality denim, selvedge and non-selvedge with a choice of washes and weights. This selection includes some impressive light denim shirts, peacoats, braided leather belts, chinos and crew neck tees both printed and plain. Simple, solid.

GQ Magaziine skrev om Paul og Richard i en artikel serie om The Next Wave in British design.

The similarities between a denim brand and Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection might not be obvious. Yet, Natural Selection Denim draws inspiration from the spirit of competition and the evolutionary process. As in nature so in denim; only the fittest survive.

Denim

Et nyt spændende brand er Natural Selection Denim der blev grundlagt af 2 midt-engelske fyre i 2009.

Nedenfor den korte engelske introduktion men se næste indlæg for mere info på dansk og engelsk samt billede-serie her.

Established in 2009, Natural Selection Denim strives for originality and authenticity with no compromise. They use Japanese and Italian selvedge denim to produce jeans with rich-detailing that resonate with the denim obsessive.

"....what I’m interested in doing is looking at the kind of clothing that wouldn’t necessarily be wearable today as strict reproduction, but taking ideas from it, reevaluating how and why things were done, and working back to a new garment that maybe isn’t even recognisable from the original(s), but which share some common thought processes, and is interesting and wearable."

Han arbejder alle detaljer på alle produktgrupper igennem og siger: "You should be able to enjoy a shirt or a pair of jeans at face value, because of the texture of the fabric, the feel of the hardware, the way it looks."

Genius Copenhagen and Blue Blood part

For many years Blue Blood has been an important part of the profile of Genius Copenhagen’s showroom.

We have always been very proud to present the collection to both press and buyers – however due to a big loss in Blue Blood profit after the last difficult seasons of late or default Blue Blood deliveries sadly the time has come where we have to go our separate ways.

This also marks the beginning of a new era and business structure for Genius Copenhagen that will make us more flexible and interesting as business partners for brands and buyers.

We will continue all brands as before – see www.genius-copenhagen.dk for update on brand portfolio.

News of contract signed by Genius Copenhagen and one of the worlds biggest brands coming later.
