Grayers: before denim, before chinos there were grayers......!
Its not very often you find a new intelligent mens wear brand with beautiful fabrics and the right
fits covering all product types and at the same time commercially priced.
All-american Grayers is all that and much more. Today
exclusively sold by Mr.Porter in Europe.
It’s run by two former Ralph Lauren executives within production and design. --> Peter Georgiou and Kenny Thomas, Grayers creative directors, were colleagues during their Ralph Lauren days: Peter on the product development and sourcing side and Kenny on the design side. Kenny came to Grayers with a notable 13 years at Ralph Lauren as a vice president of concept design and was also the first designer on the RRL-collection.
Genius Copenhagen has been appointed as the Scandinavian distributor for Grayers - contact Martin Møller for more details.
Grayers:
Before jeans and chinos, a man of style would wear gray flannel trousers, or better known as Grayers, which gave birth to casual menswear. Grayers, the collection, is the perfect mix of heritage menswear pieces, with a modern day take. Not to mention that the collection will carry on from season to season. The lightweight oxfords are perfect for layering in the winter and a simple but chic summer look.
If you didn't grow up during the 1950s in England, we forgive you. Post-World-War II Brits, however, we fully expect you to be familiar with the era's ubiquitous gray flannel trousers. Colloquially called grayers, they represented a new age in menswear, when style-inclined youth threw off the stiff formalities of conventional dressing — think: three-piece suits — for these more relaxed, pair-with-everything pants. Today, the birth of the "British blue jean" serves as fashion catnip for founder Peter Georgiou, who named his new menswear line, Grayers, after the throwback staple.
"The pieces are the perfect mix of Anglo-awesomeness, New England
prep-school cool, and insta-classics, all with a little bit of quirk thrown in.
Look for slim-but-not-too-skinny chinos, and artfully worn-in jeans, t-shirts, knitwear and
one pretty slick tartan blazer. With affordable price points and crazy-good quality,
we think these duds could start a fashion revolution all of their own."

Folk in Kyoto - Copenhagen
In the weeks before easter Folk had a temporary shop in shop in Kyoto
in the west part of Copenhagen. The shop was done in a simple yet
surprising manner!
The cool leaning shelve in the window showing
soft folded Folk items from the Spring 2012 collection. The items were
visible from the outside and inside.
On the big black
table which is the key point in the front of the shop the carefully
selected shirts and knitwear - Kristian and Mads did a good job this
season - were accompanied by antique frames with images from the
latest Folk look book.
Descriptions of the products were
cut and printed on 3 different types of paper and placed next to the
particular product which customers found informative and funny. After reading the description of the Folk block printet t-shirt one customer said:"oh my god(omg) - i just thought it was a basic t-shirt"
The
shop was finished with a red Folk logo on the window, a bouquet of
flowers on the table and the "Folk thing" in yellow rope, antique frames
and wood.
We are very thankful for the opportunity we got and have agreed
to repeat the succes next season. Thanks to the nice staff in Kyoto
for their support.

Folk block printed t-shirt spring 2012
The fabric for this is a slub cotton which gives the base
cloth a natural feel. The natural undyed colour also helps to achieve this. It
gives another texture of jersey on the rail which is important.
The print
artwork has been created by Folk, so that we get the hand painted feel in the
print.
All the artwork is painted
on acetates and exposed directly on to the screens which means we avoids any
'digital' looking artwork.
The print is bold in multi colour but has the folk
element of fun, if its too much fun there is the grey's option which though
more subtle also makes a statement.
The prints in the collection are an
important part, we want to continue to make individual garments in a market and
feel this is a strong voice to do that with.
